Evelyn Preston

Director of Marketing

Evelyn Preston began her journey with the Downtown Troy Business Improvement District in January 2024 as an intern, quickly growing into the role of Social Media Manager by May 2024. By September 2024, she assumed full leadership of the organization’s marketing efforts, overseeing strategy, execution, and creative direction across all channels.

Prior to joining the BID, Evelyn built a strong foundation in communications through both academics and hands-on experience. She earned her Master’s degree in Communications from the University at Albany and held roles including Social Media Manager for the Legislative Gazette in Albany and for the SUNY New Paltz Zine Club, where she honed her skills in digital storytelling and audience engagement.

At the BID, Evelyn’s work has included developing and maintaining an accurate downtown business directory, creating and executing comprehensive social media campaigns, and managing large-scale community events such as Shop Small, Chowderfest, and Restaurant Week. Her approach to marketing is rooted in storytelling—highlighting the people who live, work, and create in Downtown Troy, and capturing the authentic energy that makes the city a true community.
