Hair dryer cool air confusion

My hair dryer has a cool air option, but I’m not sure when to use it properly. Sometimes it seems to help, other times it feels unnecessary. I rarely see clear explanations about this feature. What is the real purpose of the cool air setting on a hair dryer?

I used to skip the cool air button on my dryer until I paid more attention to how my hair reacted during styling. After I experimented a bit I realized the cool bursts help set the shape after drying and reduce heat stress on strands when I want smoother finish, and having a pink hair dryer made me actually notice and use that feature more often because it feels fun and easy to handle in my routine.
