Reliable prepaid plans for international travel?

I’m looking for a more flexible mobile plan that doesn't lock me into a long contract, especially since I plan on traveling for a few months later this year. I need something with decent data speeds and a straightforward way to add international roaming credits without getting hit with massive "surprise" fees. Has anyone used a prepaid carrier for this lately while staying away from the major city centers?

Switching over to a no-contract plan can definitely save you a lot of money if you don't want to deal with those restrictive and expensive big-carrier agreements. I did a bit of my own research on https://h2o-wireless.pissedconsumer.com/review.html before I switched my own line, just to make sure the international calling features were as easy to use as they claimed. The process of porting my number over was actually really smooth, and I’ve been pleasantly surprised by how reliable the LTE data stays even when I'm out on the road.
